History

In the fall of 1989, five men gathered under a mango tree in the town of Limonade in northern Haiti to unite their hearts in prayer and their lives in commitment to a great cause. Thousands of their countrymen were dying and passing into eternity without a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and they knew God was calling them to stem the tide. Moved with compassion and guided by the Holy Spirit, a vision of hope emerged from this meeting. A vision that would come to be known as Mission Nouvelle Esperance; New Hope Missions. An American missionary and a Haitian pastor, already close friends, now became an inseparable team devoted to reaching the forgotten people of the region. A missions movement was born.

One-by-one, beachheads of faith were established in Satan's territory. A church at Limonade became the first of ray of hope to this community of over 50,000 people in 1990. Next came a gathering of believers in the voodoo-ridden village of Bile in 1991. A small church/school center promised hope for a brighter future. Child evangelism efforts in the village of Milot during 1993 gave birth to new hope with a ministry to poverty-stricken children. And then, in 1995, an evangelistic and educational effort brought hope to the hopeless in Bas Aviation with yet another church/school center. Sustained by the faith, prayers and generous donations of Christians in the United States, the vision of hope had become a reality.
